Assassin's Creed Introduces Unexpected AoT Collaboration for Thanksgiving
In a unexpected crossover event that defies traditional forecasts, the game developer has announced an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual Thanksgiving event continues from November 25 through December 22, providing free bonus story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Questline Revealed
According to the official announcement, "An unusual encounter draws characters Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh quest, where rumors of forbidden rituals and monstrous changes resonate through the darkness." The narrative features a "unusually attired woman named Ada" who assigns the characters with venturing into the Gemstone Grotto—a key location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her ally from a secret group.
The questline focuses on "bizarre experiments and a monstrous enemy" and is open to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.
Recognizable Settings and Transformations
The trailer showcases the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was formerly where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The trailer ends with a dramatic scene showing a character, probably the prisoner, changing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Items and Additional Material
Players who finish the adventure will obtain an unique katana together with several items concealed throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also features in-store Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-based attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Unique implements
- Survey Corps vehicle
Latest Free Story Content
This release also adds the game's latest free story content, titled "A Puzzlement." This humorous quest pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they trade distinctive techniques: Naoe debuts a theatrical interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-fatal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Mystery" also includes a original environmental puzzle that may finally explain some unanswered questions from the main storyline.
Earlier Anime Collaborations
This marks not the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with famous anime properties. The series previously featured a 2020 collaborative story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla subtly included a quest that obviously echoed the popular series One-Punch Man.
