Christantus Uche Fuels Dominant Crystal Palace Win at Irish Side Shelbourne.

Even though embarking on their maiden European campaign, Oliver Glasner's side are adapting at a rapid pace. Without star players like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles departed Dublin with a commanding result that all but secures them a spot in the Conference League qualifying rounds.

A further victory in their next fixture against Finland's KuPS should be sufficient to seal direct passage to the last 16, particularly after a previous stumble against Strasbourg.

Fringe Players Grasp the Moment

This occasion offered a chance for some of Palace's fringe players to shine. Christantus Uche, in only his second beginning after arriving on loan from Getafe, notched the account with a clinical finish. Striker Eddie Nketiah added a another, finding the net for the second consecutive succession.

The Shelbourne team that had concluded their domestic season were outmatched even for a largely second-string Palace outfit. The visitors were further weakened by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are out with leg problems.

The home side were hanging on desperately. Defender Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to escape a booking for a couple of robust challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards rattled the woodwork with a header from a corner.

The match was as good as over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past a series of weak challenges before coolly dispatching a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.

After the break, manager Oliver Glasner took the chance to rest several players like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse almost scoring with his very first touch, only to see his shot blocked.

Esse was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one shot crash off both posts before being clasped on the line. Uche also missed a glaring chance, showing there is still room for improvement in his game.

The only concern for Palace was a second-half knock to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This allowed 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to make his senior debut, rounding off an otherwise positive evening for the traveling side.
