Norris Tops Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
Lando Norris has outscored Oscar Piastri at all of the last five race weekends.
Lando Norris narrowly beat fellow driver and title rival Oscar Piastri for the quickest lap in the closing stages of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the title advantage from his teammate by just one point after his victory in Mexico City recently, topped the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Until that point, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair throughout the hour before the sprint shootout due at 6:30 PM GMT.
Max Verstappen, the only other driver in the points battle, trailing with a 36-point deficit Norris, ended up in 17th place as his Red Bull team ran a unique setup.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to crash, though minor, when he spun at Turn Four during the early running.
Tsunoda spun out over the track edges before spinning across the gravel trap, and was blessed to avoid just a minor contact of the fence.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the final moments of the session, turning around through the fast downhill Mergulho turn before the final bend on to the start-finish straight.
The seven-time champion finished practice in 19th, just behind teammate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were far ahead of the other competitors, with the German's car in third, 0.619 seconds behind the Australian's time.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto ahead of Mercedes' George Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
