It's tough for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The highest peaks have already been conquered.

This is the unit that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, along with six more T20 titles, and earlier maintained nearly four years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, targeted by the achievement hunters, are all that remain for a team that has achieved everything.

That it took until Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase over 300, regaining their record for the highest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, honestly, a compliment to the pitchers that have represented Australia over the past 50 years.

It is hard for their batsmen to hold a record if never given the opportunity.

In the end, the result of Australia allowing 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy being given a chance to produce her newest gem.

Initially recognized as the 19-year-old niece of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after her nation couldn't capture either of the T20 or ODI World Cups from the prior year and has seen it all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 World Cup win came three months after her first appearance and seven international trophies have followed from 10 efforts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India temporarily stopped the winning streak.

That loss "pushed us to reevaluate our levels," Healy commented earlier.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the championship match and was awarded tournament MVP. She made sure her country would not fail again.

The question of whether this newest brilliant performance topped that previous effort can be debated.

Many contend the argument supporting final game tension. Others can counter with the test that comes when confronting a historic chase and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's definite is this hundred was much more difficult to anticipate.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 occurred when she was the highest scorer, but this performance followed six innings in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've been watching me in training, it has been a frustrating experience because it seemed my form was missing completely," commented Healy.

"Yet the moment you take the field, your fighting spirit kick in and you simply focus on the contest."

Healy's competitive nature has continuously been her major advantage - and an irreplaceable characteristic in succeeding famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, dismissed by the 22-year-old seamer in all three matches, but here that only provided Healy's inspiration.

A single came off the bowler's initial ball and from that point the batsman was on her way.

"An opportunity to go out there and engage in competition with her and just have a bit of fun that way, sort of got me going," said Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 balls - her quickest at the global tournament - and her ton in 84 balls as she attacked short-pitched balls, hitting 21 fours and three maximums.

Once she was removed her side required another 66 at run per delivery - an achievable target now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"To chase 330 is uncharted waters so I am glad we have the assurance to do that now," stated Healy further.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it again but, should it happen, we know we can achieve it."

Those words will be the final thing competing nations at this World Cup need to hear.

Over the past five days a belief they will triumph from any situation has grown stronger - this victory coming after win against Pakistan by 107 runs despite being 76-7 at a certain moment.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a meeting with traditional opponents England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final berth may likely be confirmed.

During that phase they left the previous year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a game Healy was absent due to damaged tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the inaugural occasion at an important competition.

So great is her will, she subsequently stated she wanted to have participated with the discomfort.

Yet even as she subsequently acknowledged those fitness problems have postponed plans to retire, this tournament is likely to be her last as captain in one-day cricket and she is yet to win an international tournament as skipper.
